I didn't mean to go a month without posting something, but things have been a little crazy lately. A good kind of crazy though. This craziness however has prompted me to start a new ongoing project. I've found myself without a
camera lately as I am beginning to move into a new home and other circumstances like that. That forced me to think of something to do without a camera, and I found this idea from a blog I found called Noteheads. The guy in charge of the site is basically trying to come up with his own fake book of tunes. Since I do a lot of transcribing anyway, I've taken to the idea of doing my own. I'd like to start things off with Kenny Burrell's "Midnight Blue".
I've seen a lot of transcriptions of this one around from fans of jazz, blues, and rock alike. The tune seems to have a universal appeal about it. However, I've always had one problem or another with each transcription I've found. So I decided to try to address those problems, start from scratch and use my ear. Here is my version of the tune, available for free download.
