Nothing sounds more like Christmas to me than a swingin' jazz tune and something about the blues has such a good Christmas feel. So naturally when a player like Russell Malone steps up to bat on "O Christmas Tree", it doesn't take
him very long to speak directly to me. Here his solo is only 16 bars, but he had me looped in on that first note of his solo break. I heard this tune one morning while Christmas shopping, and transcribed it the second I got home. Nothing Russell Malone plays is bad, so despite this being a "just-for-fun" yuletide transcription, there's still a lot to learn from this one. However, with that being said, I just ripped the changes almost verbatim from the Christmas Real Book.
