It's so difficult to narrow down a singular "favorite" guitar player. However if I had to do so, 9 times out of 10, lately my answer would have to be Pat Metheny. He has such an extensive catalogue to his name, with collaborations from
Ornette Coleman to David Bowie and everyone in between. This tune is from a collaboration album with John Scofield. Metheny takes the second solo and everything he plays is melodic and precise. There's so much to learn from this solo, from licks to amazing legato technique to Metheny's signature articulations and more. It'll take me a while to digest everything from the solo, so here's me taking a shot at playing it.
