Here's a nice one in the old school of Charlie Christian played by Tiny Grimes. I came across it on the Charlie Parker Savoy Recordings CD. Parker takes the first solo and, as always, it's amazing. But what I loved about Tiny's solo is
how solid the groove is. It's a very 'in-the-pocket' solo and that's the beauty of it. It reminds you that you don't need all these crazy altered or whole tone scales to play jazz. There's some great licks in this one. The last chorus is played in unison with Bird. Check out the video below.
